Nouns  Kinds and function : There are four kinds of noun in English: A-Common nouns:dog. man, table Proper nouns: France, Madrid, Mrs Smith, Tom Abstract nouns:beauty, chanty, courage, fear. joy Collective nouns:crowd, flock, group, swarm, team   B- A noun can function as: The subject of a verb:Tom arrived. The complement of the verbs be, become, seem:Tom is an actor. The object of a verb: I saw Tom. The object of a preposition: / spoke to Tom. A noun can also be in the possessive case: Tom's books   Adjectives   Kinds of adjectives A -The main kinds are:  (a) Demonstrative: this, that, these, those  (b) Distributive: each, every  (c) Quantitative: some, any, no  (d) Interrogative: which, what, whose  (e) Possessive: my, your, his, her, its, our, your, their  (f) Of quality: clever, dry, fat, golden, good, heavy, square   Verbs  A There are two classes of verbs in English: The auxiliary verbs (auxiliaries): to be, to have, to do; can, could, may, might, must, ought, shall, should, will, would; to need, to dare and used.
