Os artigos foram publicados juntos, em 25 de abril, sob o título geral de “Estrutura molecular dos ácidos nucléicos”, trazendo cada um deles um subtítulo.
[...] O exame do número da Nature, de 25 de abril, revela que o artigo de Watson e Crick vem antes (ainda que apenas uma página) dos artigos de Wilkins e Franklin, permitindo assim que Watson e Crick se refiram aos outros dois relatórios como “as comunicações abaixo”. [...] O problema é que ver o próprio artigo precedido pelo artigo de outrem significa perder o santo graal da ciência — a primazia. (FRIEDMAN, 2000, p. 315).
